Fibroids affect 70% of people with a uterus and Founder LaToya Dwight is making a big difference with the second annual Run Far 5k.
Founder of The Fibroid Pandemic, LaToya Dwight, has announced the second annual fibroid awareness event. It's following the successful first event in 2021. Dwight shares how just a few weeks before the event she was actually encouraged to cancel the event due to low participation, but ultimately ended up getting over 140 participants. The organization continues to bring awareness and resources to those throughout Atlanta through fun and interactive education.
LaToya Dwight founded The Fibroid Pandemic in response to her personal battle with uterine fibroids. LaToya tearfully shared her experience from how she was being treated upon finding out at the doctor's office to her frenzied journey into researching what fibroids are all the way to finding the right recovery treatment. She was called to help others overcome fibroids. Since 2019, The Fibroid Pandemic has provided resources to humans with a uterus seeking to heal from uterine fibroids, non-cancerous tumors of the uterus.
The inaugural Run F.A.R. 5K Run/Walk on July 24th, 2021 debuted as the only 5K run/walk for fibroid awareness on the continent.
