Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen discussed what APS is doing for students during district-wide closures. The question many are asking is what are kids going to do when in some cases a school lunch is the only meal they may receive.
APS, under Dr. Carstarphen's leadership has started implementing anchor sites in the community to have a grab and go breakfast and lunch station for the students in Atlanta. Students can can also obtain a fresh produce bag and a box of canned and boxed goods so the children can have food for an entire week.
Dr. Carstarphen said it was important to have a holistic approach while government officials combat Covid_19.
