The man, the myth and the rapper. I was able to sit down with incredibly talent upcoming Atlanta rapper, Mr. 1204. We met at AMS Music Studio in the heart of Atlanta, and I wanted to share a little of my experience with you!

I was able to sit down and really get know Mr. 1204 so I can give you the behind the scenes scoop on who you will be listening to in 2019. One of the many things I learned while sitting down with Mr. 1204 was that music has been apart of his life since he was 11 years old. He found out he really had the talent for writing and rhyming in grades school when teachers and peers would tell him how talented he was as a writer, and then one day he decided to write a rap for his mom who was a huge fan of hip hop, and she just encouraged him to memorize his rap and from there his road to success was mapped out.

Mr. 1204 originally from Michigan grew up seeing his friends and family enjoying activities like street art he even says how it was an inspiration to him, "I'm a hip hop kid. I grew up in a hip hop background. My mom liked hip hop ... when you grew up and all your cousins was doing graffiti, break dancing, beat boying ... you are heavily influenced by it." His journey to success has been a long one filled with a few name changes including his original rap name of Sweet Tea, it was later changed by his barber to T-DOG because his barber. He finally landed on the name of Mr. 1204 through some simple math and a good night out with a friend celebrating their birthdays. That's right Mr. 1204 is named after his own birthday, so now you know on December 4th you need to take him out for a drink.

We talk a lot about his upcoming projects including his latest single called Lost. It was his intention to create a track so hypnotic and so real that you felt like you would "get lost in the sauce" from listening to it. I can honestly say after listening to Lost, it was a truly thought provoking song. One of the biggest projects Mr. 1204 is working on this year is his clothing brand Krazie Klothing. The exclusive line can only be found through his Instagram page and a select few brand ambassadors.

One of the best parts of interviewing Mr. 1204 is his drive for success. Similarly to me, he worked several jobs at a young age trying to support his dream. Along the way he worked some pretty odd jobs. He told me about one of his craziest work experiences doing lawn care maintenance for the city in a cemetery! He understands what hard work and determination can do for you if you believe in yourself, and his nugget of inspiration for aspiring rapper is "to keep grinding" because life is hard and can knock you down and put obstacles in your way, but if you keep pushing towards your dreams they will come true.
