Magistrate Court of Fulton Has A Specialty Court That Leads The Nation



Fulton County, GA Chief Magistrate Judge Cassandra Kirk came on The Rashad Richey Morning Show to discuss the importance of civic responsibility, voting and leadership. As Chief Magistrate Judge of Fulton County, Kirk is responsible for appointing 30 judges and providing administrative oversight for the Court. During the interview, Judge Kirk highlighted the Court's use of technology for better efficiency, community clinics and servant-leader approach. This includes creating a court schedule that better serves citizens and being responsive to community concerns. Judge Kirk also shared the vast success of the Misdemeanor Mental Health Court which has an 85% graduation rate, well above the national average. This court addresses underlying mental health disorders that may lead to incarceration. The Misdemeanor Mental Health Court provides an opportunity to decrease and in some cases eliminate the revolving door of recidivism. It is one of the most successful courts of its kind in the country. According to Kirk, she wants all citizens to be successful and win. Listen to the full interview below.
