Looking to break into the podcasting space?

Podcasting expert shares the BEST TIPS for a successful podcast according to industry experts.

Recently, Podcasting Expert and CEO & Founder of The ALIVE Podcast Network, Angel Livas, shares her career long secrets to podcasting success. Angel shares what she believes are the best practices to having ANY successful podcast: Passion, Quality, Consistency, and time management.

1. Passion

Angel shares if you are interested in starting a podcast the best place to start is by looking at your passions. She shares that a podcast doesn't have to be about your career or your career journey. If you're passionate about baking then focus on baking, if you're passionate about cars then be become the captain of the cars. One wary warning Angel shares is, while you might have a passion for a topic or hobby, it's more than being passionate about the topic. It's also about teaching people about your passion. So if you are not confident talking about your passion or are not the best teacher, but you still want to create a podcast start by working on your presenting skills.

2. Quality

Another great secret to success is quality. While this might seem a little vague or open ended, Angel is very specific in saying the audio quality is VERY important. While the topic maybe a hot button issue, if your audio quality is spotty, your mics aren't good, and editing is poor, then the podcast will fail. There is one other important key factor here with audio quality and that is transparency to the listeners. If you are recording in a coffee shop, tell them that, if you live next to a busy highway and don't have a true dedicated space to record share that.

There are many great ways to combat this that are both feasible and fixable with practice and time. The key take away from this is it doesn't matter if you want to talk about yarn growing on mars or why reality tv is so fascinating in today's culture, if you have quality audio and have transparency people will listen.

3. Consistency

Again this is another big word that can mean many things, but in it's most simplest terms it's about you being consistent. You promising your dedicated listeners you will always drop a new episode every Thursday, or every fifth Tuesday. Consistency will also help with the fourth key component to a successful podcast and that is success. We'll get into that shortly, but be consistent with your messaging and be consistent with giving your listeners what they like best.

Angel shares that people are relying on you and your consistency will bring them stability. She also shares that when you are consistent it helps you to collect real data to cater to your listeners and what they are looking for.

4. Time Management

Finally the second half of consistency which is time management. Angel shares it is important for you to commit to a schedule. If you want to release episodes on Fridays, then maybe your schedule looks like recording on Mondays, editing on Wednesdays and released on Fridays.

Keeping to a schedule and working on time management is definitely key to keeping your stress levels down and your excitement up. Angel shares it's all about pacing yourself. Be sure to record episodes ahead of time to account for time off so that you can remain consistent.
