Howard grad creates "The Level Up Experience," a reality show blending education with entertainment, showcasing diverse narratives and providing real-world skills to students.

In the bustling world of entertainment, "The Level Up Experience" is quickly becoming the talk of the town. This innovative show, now in production, intertwines the realms of education and entertainment, offering a fresh perspective on reality TV. Recently, in an exclusive interview, Edford Banuel, the creator and driving force behind this groundbreaking project, a Howard University graduate, shared insights into their journey and the conception of "The Level Up Experience."

Recalling their early inspirations, the creator spoke of the profound impact that Broadway shows like "The Tap Dance Kid" and popular television series such as "The Cosby Show" and "A Different World" had on them. These shows, portraying black families and diverse narratives, were a beacon of representation, a theme deeply resonant in their work. Growing up Puerto Rican, the creator empathized with the challenge of finding relatable content on television. "It's essential to have programming that not only represents us appropriately but also showcases the diversity and wholesomeness of our communities," they remarked. This ethos is palpably reflected in their current project.

"The Level Up Experience," born out of a collaboration with Atlanta's AUC and their production company, Room for Us Productions, is more than just a television show. It's an incubator-style program, providing students with real-world skills and experiences. When asked about the show's inception, the creator shared, "While filming content for organizations like Inroads, focusing on HBCU students, the idea struck. Why not create a platform to highlight these young, brilliant minds in a dignified, educational, yet entertaining way?" This concept sets "The Level Up Experience" apart, aiming to redefine the often superficial landscape of reality TV by offering something both informative and uplifting.

Before "The Level Up Experience," the creator had already made significant strides in the industry. They reminisced about previous endeavors, including winning a $30,000 grant for a short film submission and directing an independent feature written by urban fiction novelist Nikki Turner. Each project, they noted, was a stepping stone towards "The Level Up Experience." As for viewers eager to dive into this new venture, the creator shared, "We're currently in production, and we can't wait for audiences to see what we've been working on. Stay tuned for more details on where and when you can catch 'The Level Up Experience.'"

This interview not only sheds light on the journey of a talented individual but also illuminates a path forward for reality TV – one that educates, represents, and uplifts. "The Level Up Experience" promises to be more than just a show; it's a movement, a testament to the power of representation and education in media.
