February 5th, 2025 Fortis College in Smyrna is partnering with the American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation's "Give Kids a Smile" program to provide free dental care to children in the community. The annual event will take place on Wednesday, February 5th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the campus, located at 2140 South Cobb Drive. This event is open to the public and walk in are encouraged. For more information or to call ahead dial 678-460-0910.

Kids ages five to 17 are invited to receive a comprehensive range of preventative dental services, including cleanings, exams, X-rays, fluoride varnish applications, and more. Attendees will also learn proper flossing and brushing techniques through interactive demonstrations.

The need for such services is critical. According to the Centers for Disease Control, over half of young children between six and eight years old have experienced at least one cavity in a baby tooth.

The ADA Foundation launched "Give Kids a Smile" nationally in 2003 to connect dentists and communities in providing dental care to underserved children. At Fortis College, Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting students will be providing the services under the supervision of an on-site dentist. This hands-on experience is invaluable for the students as they prepare for careers in the dental field.
