BLUE PRINT 2.0 MEGA SERIES

One of the many things I love about my city is how it is booming in entertainment. Whether you are interested in breaking into film, fashion, music, and yes even radio there are opportunities everywhere. It's just a matter of you reaching out and grabbing it. I had the pleasure of attending an amazing event, Blue Print 2.0 Mega Series. The Blue Print 2.0 was hosted on the beautiful HBCU Clark Atlanta University. The event had special guests including Congressman, Hank Johnson, and Kareem "Biggs" Burke, Co-Founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, and hosted by Mz. Shyneka from Hot 107.9.

Kareem "Biggs" Burke talked about what it means to be an entrepreneur to him, and how he's used his instincts and marketing experience to be apart of some of music's biggest deals and collaborations. He said he felt lucky to stumble upon a Michael Jordan of music when he met Jay-Z, and how he knew he had to act right then and there because Jay-Z was just so special. It's a good thing he listened to his instincts because if he hadn't we may not have been put on to Kanye West either. At one point during the mega series Mz. Shyneka asked about how he discovered Kanye West and Biggs said that at first no one really believed that Kanye was worth it, and it's a good thing he followed his instinct and got the rest of the Roc-A-Fella Records team to believe because we may not have gotten some of the musical gems like Late Registration, Graduation, and all of his other genius creation.

Once the interview portion of the series was over, Mz. Shyneka opened the floor up for audience members to ask questions, and one of the most memorable questions that was asked was by a father of two asking what are the qualities that successful women have in the entertainment industry, Biggs answered saying that hustle and grind are the qualities that he's seen among successful women in the industry, as for Mz. Shyneka she said it's a matter of working twice as hard to get the same amount of money as our male counter parts. Biggs went on to answer several other questions about marketing, branding, music, fashion, and even released that he is working on a memoir.

It was definitely an honor to be in the presence of such strong media moguls especially when they have tips for women who are trying to make it in the media industry. VIP guests were able to enjoy an after party to mingle and network as well as grab pictures with these two industry leaders.

I am pleased to announce that my friends from Fwey will be joining Keishaun Da Don and I on Midday Crunch this Thursday, March 14, 2019. Fwey is a Haitian duo that is trying to change the rap narrative from violence to positivity. The two brothers have released several songs including Rude Boy, Work For It, and How U Like Me Now? I had the pleasure of meeting Fwey during the holiday season during their first annual Turkey Give Away.
